David Murphy

David Murphy

Dave took piano lessons for three or four years before giving it up to play outside with the rest of the kids from the neighborhood. But as Dave achieved adult status, he too longed to make music. Like any good sibling, he was not to be outdone by his little brother and so dived into the world of guitar at the same time as Chris; with equal reckless abandon (he had heard that guitarist's get all the girls.) Because of his good natured disposition and strong credit rating, he is acknowledged as the acting figurehead for the burgeoning BogaTones corporate empire. Also, he's the oldest one which makes him kind of an authority figure, though no one really does what he says. Dave takes a fresh and inspired approach to the guitar attributable to his being largely self-taught (as was Chris), but there are those that have influenced his style. Such bands to influence Dave include: The Band from Happy Days, (Dave loved Potsie what a crooner) The Partridge Family, (no body can strike a pose quite like Keith and what great hair) The Brady's, (Johnny Bravo was the true front man for the group but that Marsha was a really swingin' chick) and his all time favorite, Cotton Candy (That Drummer Rocks! not really!) His ear for chord voicings is evident in both his guitar playing and his vocal backings. Dave also sings lead, usually on his own compositions. Dave doesn't mind wearing ties that much if their stylish.. well he minds but it's kinda required sometimes. Dave plays a Gibson Epiphone Les Paul as his primary axe but he also owns an Ovation Acoustic/Electric, a Charvel Electric, a Washburn Electric, and a Washburn Solid Body Electric Acoustic. His sound is pumped through his brand new Vox ADVT120 Modeling Amp, I think someone said the other day, he actually sounded good for a change. Dave has many computers but just bought a really nice computer, mostly for video editing. Yes he's already thinking ahead to the band's first video!
