me the guys are in the middle of doing the backing vocal tracks and Fred
is working on the orchestral and piano cuts over at Sound Resources. I'll
keep you updated as it gets closer to completion!

Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year from The BogaTones!
Hey guys, Ken checking
in with you for another update. Since our last one, there have been a
few things happening good and bad.
Ok the bad news first…
David suffered an injury to his leg that required some minor surgery.
Nothing to worry about he is fine and recovering nicely. He had to spend
a week or more away from the album project and then returned having to
use crutches. He had to suffer some playful jesting by the rest of the
guys due to just how he injured it, but he is back and hard at it with
the guys working on a new song “Everything Changes.” Seriously
from us all, we are glad you’re ok Dave!
The second problem, although no where near a serious of course, was a
computer breakdown at the studio. Chris and Kevin jumped into the task
and after a week or so had things back up and running better than ever.
Now for some better news! “So Many Women” is all finished
in post production and wrapped up. I hope to get a sample clip up on the
site for you to listen to very soon now. It turned out great!
The other bit of cool news is two new additions to the guitar line up.
Seems Dave and Kevin have been at it again and acquired two new acoustic
guitars. Dave grabbed up a new Takamine
TAN55C Noveau Natural (check it out below!) and Kevin an Ibanez
AEF-1812NT 12 String. Both are incredible sounding guitars and will be
featured on the new song “Everything Changes” the guys are
currently cutting tracks on. Fred also tells me this new song will feature
an orchestral arrangement his is putting together on it. That should be
amazing sounding!

That’s all
for this update. Everyone have a safe and happy holiday season!
Till next time, Ken

Major News Update! |
|
Hey gang! Ken back
with a new update. Sorry for taking so long, but there have been a lot
of things happening since the last update. There is so much to tell I
don’t know where to start, so I’ll just jump in with The
Big News first!
The BogaTones have the album cover ready for the new CD!
Kevin and Chris tell me they started working on the cover concept
about 2 months ago trying to deciding what look the band wanted for it
and exactly how to put it together. Once they had the basics figured out
of where they wanted to go with it, Kevin tells me he brought in a good
friend of his and local professional Photographer Bill McCord. Bill is
a professional photographer with many years of experience and talent in
the photography and modeling industry.
Bill has his own website that hosts and promotes model’s portfolios
from all over the country, many of which Bill worked with himself.
|
 |
Bill
and the guys jumped into finalizing the concept and started working out
what was needed for location shoots and who would be the right model for
the project. Bill suggested that one of the professional models he works
with named Cynthia Dockery would be a perfect fit for the album project
and the guys agreed. Cynthia has worked with Bill in the past and she
agreed to work on the shoot for the cover. If you want to check out more
of Cynthia’s professional photography portfolio just visit our Forum
for the link!
With that set, Bill spent a week scouting for just the right location
and setting to do the photographs for the cover and went to work with
Cynthia. I think it came out great!
The guys wanted me to say they are really excited about the new cover
and to say a special thanks to Bill and Cynthia for all their hard work,
talent and efforts in making this album cover happen! Thanks guys!

Video Interview...
I also got the opportunity to sit down with Chris for a few hours to do
a video interview with me! Chris and I talked
about a lot of things: the studio, the album and how much fun the guys
are having working on the new project. I also used some video I made of
the guys hard at work in the BogaCave. Check out the interview clips below.

The BogaTones Newsletter…
I have agreed to put together a quarterly newsletter for all The BogaTones
fans! The newsletter will have interviews with the guys, articles written
by the band members themselves, sneak previews, special goodies, and best
of all: it will let you guys know when the new album is to be released!
If you would like to sign up for this “subscription” only
newsletter just send an e-mail to:
and it will tell you how to get on the list! The first issue should be
ready by December 2004. |

Meanwhile
back at the studio... (The BogaCave) Renovations have been completely
finished and the guys were back at it hard and heavy doing more recording
to get more songs ready for the new album. Check out some of the photos
I took of the guys getting back to work! |

Till the next update...
Ken out! |
Ken again with
an update for July and hoping everyone had a great 4th this year! Seems
the studio renovations are starting to wind down now finally. The band
spent some extra time over the last few weeks moving towards finishing
up and putting things back together again. I got to drop by while they
were getting everything set back up and plugging everything back in. As
promised I grabbed a few photos for you to look at and check out how the
new setup is starting to look. David told me the new studio sound panels
were almost ready and the guys should have them up and installed this
week. Then it’s back to work putting the finishing touches on a
song or two and then cutting some new tracks. Things are not totally finished
but here are a few shots of the work in progress. |
(Above Left)

and tests the new installation. |
Fred was telling
me that Kevin has written a new song for the album and that you’re
going to be surprised when you hear it! I was curious as to what it would
be and he would only tell me it’s a blues tune. That should be cool!
All Kevin laughingly would say is he wrote it while he was in the bed
with a migraine. He did say he thought it was one of his best songs he
ever wrote. How weird is that?! |
In other news Chris
has left town again for a few days heading down to Florida for vacation
number two of the season. Dave and Kevin said they made him go so he would
write some more songs for the album and told him not to come back with
out them! I guess it’s good to keep the pressure on him or something.
Seems he only came back the last time with just four or five! |
The eBay auctions
on the older gear is going very well and they band has more stuff to still
clear out. So keep checking out the Shop
page from time to time! |
That’s
all for this update guys... stay tuned till next time!
Ken signing off!
|

Ken here back with
another update for you fans! Studio Renovation Continues: The guys tell
me it's been a little crazy trying to record with all the plastic sheeting,
paint cans, paint fumes, etc.. lying around. The place looks more like
a construction site than a recording studio. However, as the old adage
goes, "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night, nor remodeling
will prevent these musicians from recording their appointed tracks".
At least that's how I think it goes.
The guys have been hard at work on some new material and a re-make of
an earlier tune. I am already comparing the new version to the old version.
I think you'll like it. And when the group releases a retrospective CD
you will have the chance to compare the two versions for yourself. |
 |
On
a side note, it's the summer vacation season and Chris made a little excursion
out west to Yellowstone, Wyoming. "Very amazing area. If you love
the outdoors, then you need to get there one day. The pictures just don't
do it justice." He also told me that the area is very inspiring and
he has numerous new song "bits" that he's working on, thanks
to some reflective time in God's country.
Fred and Kevin tell
me they are always glad to see Chris leave town. "Well it's not that
we are being rude," laughed Fred, "it's just that Chris has
always written some of his best songs when he's out wandering the country
on vacation!"
"It's always
great to hear what he brings back." adds Kevin, "It always inspires
me to get busy with the guys hammering out the arrangements for his new
song ideas."

| Of course as soon
as Chris got back in town it was time to get back to work. Chris called
me Thursday and told me to grab my camera and meet him over at Sound Resources.
Fred and Steve had Chris lined up to cut some vocal tracks on the new songs
that evening and I was excited to get a chance to sit in, watch, and listen.
It wasn't long before Fred had everything set up and ready to go and Chris
was sent into the vocal booth. Fred spent the session applying his expertise
to setting and running the recording equipment while Steve worked with Chris
on the performance and production. It was a fun and great experience to
watch and listen to the process. Chris's vocal tracks turned out really
amazing sounding! You guys are really going to like these new songs! |

| In other
news..The band tells me that they have a few items they are needing to get
rid of to make room for some new equipment at the studio. Dave has put some
of the band's equipment up for auction over on ebay. If you want to get
your hands on some of the items, drop over to the Shop
page of the website and check out the link to the auction's Dave is running
there. |
| I have also done a
little update over on the Bios page.
I have the page updated there listing all the gear the BogaTones use to
play and record with. If you have a second check it out! Also check out
the Links section for some updates
to some great music and resource sites. |
That's all for
now Boga guys and gals, till next time..
